Did you know that fame is fleeting?

And that creativity can be severely impacted on any given day?

One day a hero, the next, a dog.

Today: witty and wise, tomorrow, a dried up old prune.

Luck be a lady tonight.

Strike while the iron is hot.

When you’re hot, you’re hot.

At any given moment, the bottom may fall out.

You become a fire fighter.

Gather your eggs, but not all in one basket.

And please, don’t ever assume.

Success today?

Don’t count on it tomorrow.

No one remembers yesterday’s efforts.

So what does make a difference?

You win some, you lose some.

You eat crow, you take the bullet and you give others credit for the positive outcomes.

And in the end, it is all about relationships.

Were you reasonable?  Fair?  Concerned?

Did you go the extra mile?

Did you truly listen to understand?

And did you give in, when it was the best thing to do?

Who respects you? And believes you will do whatever is necessary to get the job done?

Or are you constantly seeing issues escalated to your boss?

Personally, I don’t believe in escalation, except in extreme emergencies.

The most exhilarating experiences are often those that happen in a phone call, an email and an instant message.  2 ordinary people, who have never met, who live thousands of miles apart, with a common goal:  to make things happen, for a customer, for each other and for the future.

And guess what?

Once you have that bond, no matter what issues may arise, you will always find a solution.

No more games.

No more escalation.

No more distrust.

Just a relationship.

And that makes all the difference.
