30, maybe 40 geese strolling down the avenue, in single file.
What a hoot!
I had to stop, look and laugh. It was the perfect way to start my day, especially, after the massacre this weekend.
Are we humans really the intelligent ones?
Of course, the animal world is made up of predators, who kill, mainly to eat.
It’s the survival of the fittest.
We never hear of an elephant killing 50 other elephants.
Or a wolf killing 50 other wolves.
They don’t kill because they hate.
They kill to survive, to feed themselves and their families.
Enter humans, with egos and reasoning and weapons.
What is it about our nature that has created a divisive, hatred of others?
What is it about war, power and destruction that motivates some of us?
A warm June night.
Friends gathering to enjoy an evening of music and laughter.
Young people, happy people, from all walks of life.
One mad man, with hatred and weapons ended 50 of those young lives.
As we grieve for those who have lost their lives, in a random act of violence, in the country that holds more promise for freedom than any other, we struggle to find the answers.
No, I don’t have the solution.
I don’t know if we will ever live in a world where all people can live in harmony.
Will we, in the end, destroy one another, and this planet?
It is up to us, all of us, to stop this madness.
