Not sure if there is any truth to this, but….

Last night I could not sleep.

I tossed and turned, my mind in overdrive.

A major problem at work.

Seemingly, a total disaster.

Not much I could do to remedy the situation.

I would be letting my customer down.

I fought with my pillow, trying to find a way to salvage trust in the partnership that was at peril.

When I finally got out of bed at 5am, to face the day, I felt defeated.  And my pillow was pulverized.

A trip to Dunkin Donuts did little to solve the issue.A frantic call to my customer at 8am, outlining the situation, was the first thing I did when I arrived at work.

I stopped mid point and said, “Hey did you sleep last night?”

“No”, he said. “I was a mess.”

“Geez, I guess I should have met you in NYC where we could have had our last dance with Mary Jane before we were both out on the street.”

Somehow the sharing of the problem and laughing about it, made us shake ourselves off, delve into the problem and deal with the issues one by one, until we had solutions.  Oh, some were definitely a stretch of our normal processes, but together, we came up with a workable plan.

And by 1pm, the roar of the greasepaint, and the smell of the crowd, were greatly alleviated.

A few more bumps in the road, this afternoon.

A lot more laughs.

And somehow, a closer relationship emerged.

We have a long road ahead, to make sure we don’t reach this point again.

I think we will both sleep a lot better tonight.

Geez, I wish I hadn’t pulverized that pillow.
