A rough one.

Some days are like that.

Constant cravings?

Or just constant challenges.

Whatever it was, at 5pm, I was ready to slink out and find a haven.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a little Mad Hatter.

She said she was in the 1st grade, but I had a sneaky suspicion that this little kid was far beyond her years.

We talked for awhile.

Her goal?

To be a veterinarian.

Then she began to read to me….. about bringing a mouse to school.

She read every word in that little book, and did it with a sparkle in her eyes.

She was magnificent.

Such a ham bone.

Such a loving soul.

She has a rabbit and a kitten at home.

She loves to ride horses.

And she had a boyfriend, but he moved to Florida.

However, never fear.

There is a new one on the horizon.

7 years old, and the most charming kid one will ever meet.

What a happy, pleasant, fun evening….. with little Maddie, the maddest hatter I have met in a long time.

Thank you Maddie, for bringing so much laughter, enthusiasm, and meaning into my world.

I can’t wait to see you again.
