yes or no?

We have been waiting for 9 months, to find a way home.

To our normal lives.

Now that the vaccine is becoming available, the word on the street is divided.

Some welcome it.

Others will absolutely refuse it.

It confuses me.

Is it a trust issue?

A conspiracy?

A hoax?

If the vaccine is not the answer to ending the madness, then what is?

We are all tired of distancing, masking and living under stringent rules.

If you could prevent a death of a family member, a stranger, a co worker, or yourself, would you do it?

I want my life back.

We all do.

If we do nothing, what will change?

How long can we live like this?

We have hope now, in this vaccine.

Do I have all the answers?

Absolutely not.

However, we cannot continue to live without our freedom, jobs, socializing and family.

Please stay safe, be healthy, and choose to live your life, once again.

A mad hatter on a rant

Ramblings of a mad hatter:

Hey Senators and House Reps: Does anyone really have our country’s best interest at heart? I wrote to the Senators in PA, to ask them what the heck is going on. Isn’t there anyone who has the courage to stand up for what is right? No response. I am following up, to see if they are still alive or not, and if not, where should I send flowers? Politicians are driving me crazy.

Not sure if you are watching football or not, but I watched the Eagles game yesterday. Maybe they should call it quits for the rest of the year. So disappointing.

Thanksgiving supposedly is the eating holiday. The average person will gain one and a half pounds. Just what we need, after binging all year, in lock down. Oink oink.

It soon will be time to get our Christmas lists ready. The perfect gift this year? Donations to those who are hungry, homeless or ill. Would any of us really miss getting another pair of socks or a sweater this year, when our neighbors are having trouble feeding their families? It may be time to adapt to the new normal, and take care of those less fortunate.

This week is a good time to reflect on our blessings and to give thanks for what we have. Take care of yourself, stay safe and healthy, so that next year, hopefully, we will all be around to celebrate together.

Fake? Or reality?

Fake news from the Wolf:

It depends on your perception, if you think this news is fake.

It is opinion.

Mine.

But haven’t you noticed? The network news is primarily opinions.

A lot of “What ifs” and speculation.

Today, I tuned in to a news conference on the status of Corvid in Pennsylvania.

My focus?

What about the restaurants and the so called non essential businesses?

It took about a half hour for someone to ask this question.

No change in current restrictions.

Just wear a mask, at all times.

Even when visiting friends.

When I visit my friends, we usually have a couple of drinks.

Well, sometimes more than a couple.

It’s going to be tough having a cocktail wearing a mask, or eating dinner.

The bottom line?

“If” the virus spreads to the point that our hospitals are beyond capacity, then we may see more restrictions.

And if we travel to another state, we need to be tested when we come back to Pennsy.

I took an inventory of my masks.

I have some humdingers.

Since I have lived beyond my expected expiration date, I may be able to get the vaccine that could be available sometime next year.

However, even then, masks will continue to be required.

Checking the response to the latest edicts, it appears that there are those who believe the virus is real and those that say it is not.

My opinion?

I will wear a mask.

I won’t like it, but I will wear it.

I believe the virus is real, and is a serious threat to our freedom, our future and our way of life.

Maybe I am just a good soldier, a follower, a believer in what the scientists are saying.

Too many have been sick.

Too many have died.

If wearing a mask will keep our small businesses open, and curtail the infection rate, it is well worth the small sacrifice.

Be safe, stay healthy, and choose wisely.

Our lives depend on it.

Attitude ? Off the charts

Morning checkup: First for Covid:

Fever? No

Cough? Yes

Sore throat? Sort of, but not as bad as the past few days

Alive? Doubtful

Then checked my attitude: Off the charts

Hair: OMG

Stress level? Rising from the ashes.

What day is it? November 3, Election Day.

Did I vote? Yes. A few weeks ago.

Weather? Cold and windy.

Plans for today? Maybe. Waiting to see if the Oil company will be making a delivery.

How long do I wait? No more than one more hour. If no message or no show, it’s off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of doughnuts and coffee.

It’s no secret: I am tired of politics, the virus and the cold weather. Looks like we are in for the long haul.

Whatever happens at the polls today, happens. Let it be. The American people have voted and their voices will be heard.

It’s time to heal the nation and to contain the virus.

Sorry, but Mother Nature is in charge of the weather. Trying to change Mother is a losing battle.

Stay safe, healthy and choose to be happy. In spite of all our difficulties, these too shall pass.

mind games

My head hurts.

Ever try writing when you have a miserable headache?

Hey brain!

Wake up.

I need to put the pain management training to the test.

Can I remember what it was all about?

I know it was about 25 years ago, in the hospital.

I waited around for the pain pill.

Nope.

Not gonna happen.

Pain management doesn’t believe in popping pills.

Focus your mind on something other than the pain.

Mind control.

Ok, I am focusing on a handful of chocolate covered peanuts and eating them.

Gone.

Not the pain, the candy.

Now what?

Exercise, get active, do something physical.

I tried, but I can’t. I have a headache.

Oh well, it’s just a headache.

I probably won’t die from it.

But one never knows, does one?

That’s it.

I give up.

I am done for the day.

Time to get in my pajamas and watch a spooky Halloween movie, munching on nachos.

I love having an excuse to be a lazy bum.

Until tomorrow,

An unlikely cynic

Let’s pretend the past 8 months never happened.

We can just start all over again, staying at home, eating everything in sight, and going nuts.

Looking into my crystal ball, I foresee more shut downs.

Restaurants and bars are doomed, with the exception of take out service.

No hanging out in large crowds, small crowds, or with anyone other than the people you live with.

Only those who work and are essential will be allowed to go outside, without getting fined or arrested. I wonder what happens to those arrested. Do they get a private room at the local jail? Or do they get time off for not getting into fights?

We can be thankful that sometime in the next year or two, a vaccine will be available, well, sort of. No one knows who will be first in line for the vaccines, nor if there will enough to go around.

At least for Christmas, we have a new standard stocking stuffer, for all of our distant friends: Masks. Looks like for the near and far future, masks will prevail.

If you do happen to get Covid, and become very ill, there could be a shortage of hospital beds. Guess what? Young people, come on in. You oldies? Sorry folks, Wally World is closed.

Normally, I have a positive, upbeat attitude.

However, with the continuing surge of illness and the craziness of politics, I have turned into a cynical village idiot.

One lingering question: Why would anyone, in their right mind, want to be president of the United States? You would have to be nuts to want that job.
Forget the question. I think I answered it.

Are you ready for tonight?

Is tonight the last dance between Trump and Biden?

Will it be a dance of the sugar plum fairies or a dance of death?

So many predictions floating around, making my head spin, and wearing down my immunity level, so much so, that I now have a sore throat and cough.

If this is the big one for me, I hope my next life is one without politics.

I thought my eye sight was askew this morning, looking out the window: I could not see the trees. Yikes!! A new symptom has emerged! Nope. Just the fog settling in to make the new day gentler and softer.

I hope the old boys talk about solutions and plans tonight, instead of petty grievances, like “nobody likes me” or “Send in a few bucks please, so we can bore you with the same ads over the next 12 days.”

Isn’t it ridiculous that a mute button had to be added to the mix of the debate? 2 grown men yelling and screaming at one another, while the American people wonder if either is fit to be the president. What happened to decency, respect and courtesy? Now the boys will have to be forced to take time outs, for bad behavior. It’s their punishment for being obnoxious and rude.

It’s been said that as we age, we acquire grace and wisdom. Oh really?

With the wild ride of the Covid streaking though our country, please be safe, stay healthy, and choose to find humor and happiness in this crazy world.

An American privilege: voting

Mid October: Time to get a flu shot. Not everyone feels good about the flu shot. Some say it is not effective; it is not based on the current strain. Or, even that the flu shot is dangerous and you could get the flu after getting it. You can’t, by the way. I get one every year. Do I still get the flu? Sometimes. But over the years, I feel it has been effective for me. To each his own, eh?

Sissy met me for lunch before she went home to take care of George, the wonder dog. I told her I would come over later. I didn’t. Davey came in, then Chris, Bryan, and Josh. As you might suspect, once I get started, well, I am in no hurry to leave the boys.

Hearing from the princess made me feel good: She is having a much better week, at her new job. Miracles do happen and are alive and well in Pennsylvania.

After making my trek down the driveway for Waste Mgt, I had a wild craving for eggs and grits. How do you like your grits? I like mine with butter, salt and pepper. Yum! And that’s not all: biscuits, gravy, bacon and hashbrowns accompanied the feast. Oink oink.

I am taking some time today to decide on next year’s medical and prescription plans. There are so many options that it drives me nuts, so I usually stay with my current selections, unless, like the year, the prescription plan I have is horrible. Now to find the one for me.

And I am voting today!!

Hope you all are voting this year! It is one of our most precious privileges.

Be safe, stay healthy, and choose to focus on your happiness!

I am a wilted cabbage with a condition

Bee Bopped over to the neighborhood bar on its first indoor dining day.

Is that a word? Bee bopped?

Nevermind.

There they were! Pam, Colleen and Lisa!!

So good to see them!

Waited for my luncheon date.

She didn’t show up.

But, as the day wore on, 5 of my buds showed up to toast to old times.

420: Time for me to leave, but I didn’t. Not for another hour.

It was a priceless moment in time.

Today, I “hopped” over to K town for breakfast, and saw a cotton tailed rabbit, 3 drunk birds, and a wild turkey.

Jesse served me, outside, while I chatted with a friend, and her puppy, Lulu.

Next: Schedule the Mammogram. First call: We stopped doing mammograms at this facility. Next call: Nope! You have to have a special type of prescription for your condition, and your doctor did not provide the correct one. Ok so, back to the doctor, to get another prescription.
You know what? It’s ridiculous, having a condition.

Right now, the heat is blasting away. Not good for dogs, cats and old people, especially old people with conditions. I better not get a heat stroke, or I will have to call for another prescription, for the additional condition.

I think I will visit Kim in awhile, to catch up on her life. It’s the only day she works at the local bar, since she is managing another establishment. So busy! I don’t know how she does it.

I am looking like a wilted cabbage head. I love being a gorgeous cabbage.

Stay cool, stay safe and stay away from conditions.

Don’t let the summer pass you by

Isn’t it fun meeting new people?

My doctor was not available yesterday, to see me. I like him, but he does not have the best “bedside” manner. Quite, cold, actually.

As a substitute, I got to visit with Rebecca. Wow! Charming personality, warm, friendly, knowledgeable and a hoot!

Only one test for now, to see what is going on, and I like that! One at a time.

Wouldn’t you know it? No pain when I got to the doctor’s office. It comes and goes. Yesterday, it went. Today? Back again.

To take my mind off my condition, it was time for a pizza, beer and music. Sissy and I played music trivia, and then, as the night wore on, we switched to listening to our favorite tunes. Before I knew it, it was 11pm.

This morning, my friend dropped off veggies from his garden. What a sweet guy!!

The heat and humidity is excessive again today, so I am considering having an early lunch at Specs. The only drawback? I have to get dressed.

I love a lazy, hazy day. The summer comes and goes quickly, so I try to soak in all the vitamin D I can, on the deck, relaxing with a book.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Be safe, stay hydrated and eat an ice cream cone or two!
