Magic in the air

Having a leisurely cup of java at Dunkin this morning, checking the weather.

Snow squalls on the way, until 1pm.

Many accidents reported, near my house.

The first snow fall of the year.

Funny how so many forget how to drive in it.

Not even half an inch of snow, and the cars are piling up.

On the way home, 3 young deer prancing and playing in the fresh snow.

Beautiful.

Winter has unofficially arrived.

Time to relax at home with hot chocolate, and a book.

Retirement has its perks.

I hope you had a beautiful day.

Be safe, stay healthy and take time to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Horsing around?

For all the oldies out there: Everybody knows this, right?
Under Social Security, 62 is the earliest age at which a person may begin receiving retirement benefits (other than disability).

And then the surprise: Federal taxes will apply to your social security benefit. i.e., Money earned which you have already paid taxes on, over the years. Ain’t that special?

After being isolated for 62 days, do you still want to retire? Would you get bored? Or lazy? Or would you continue to enjoy the days of your life, working or not? If you were asked, “Who are you?” After responding to your family life, would you include what you do for a living? Here’s an answer I got recently from a young guy in his 30s. “I am a husband and father. And I am just a dumb electrician.” Oh yeah? Dumb electrician. Facetious ? Most likely. But he identifies with his role in the family along with his career. Once retired, then what?

On this historical 62nd day of limited allowable activities, it is time for this loose cannon to cool her jets. Mind you, it is only 815am, so I have plenty of time to change my mind. After sleeping for 9 hours, I feel frisky, and that usually spells trouble. Mother Nature is cooperating for now, until the rain sets in tonight and tomorrow. As they say, “make hay when the sun shines.”

I just convinced myself: The hay is waiting. And the horse is out of the barn. That horse out of the barn saying? No comment. You figure it out.

Until tomorrow,

Be safe.

Stay healthy.

You are loved.
