Moving on

Drama?

No.

Tweets?

No.

Reality show?

No way.

I know that some of us love the crazy, tumultuous news of the far right.

Ok.

I get it.

But for me:  I am ready for embracing the peace and the yes, even the boring rhetoric of the new administration.

No one can compete with DT and his ability to lead his constituents into his world.

A master of deceit and lies.

For 4 years, the daily upheaval of our democracy, deceiving all of those who believed he cared about us, as he flaunted his loyalty to our wondrous leaders in N Korea, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

No one is perfect.

However, I espouse our leaders who  are decent, caring and kind,  believing that our country cannot be controlled by a despot, a fraud and a hoax.

We may not agree on this, my friends.

But tonight?

I have a peaceful, easy feeling.

I am happier, more content and relieved.

Let’s move on.

It is time.

Rudy’s reality

What makes a person more valuable than another?

Get the virus and find out.

Rudy, the president’s personal lawyer, got the special drug treatment that is “reserved” for special cases.

Others, not so famous, go to an overcrowded hospital, where they may have to wait for hours, just to find out there are no beds available.

No special drug potions for the masses.

What’s so special about Rudy?

He is elderly, rich, and loyal to the president.

His specialty: law suits and hair dye.

Neither has been successful.

We are a country of the haves and the have nots.

If you “have” it, you can escape to an island, build an expensive tennis court, get a miracle drug, and a get out of jail card free, while ignoring the truth about covid.

I wonder if Rudy infected any of his followers.

He hasn’t said.

Does he care?

He doesn’t have time.

He has to get ready to travel to Georgia or Arizona or Pennsylvania, to let the people know that the current president didn’t lose the election.

I wonder if Rudy really passed the bar?

Maybe he should stop and have a few drinks at one in Manhattan, before they close, for good.

Perhaps he should take Mitch and what’s his name from South Carolina along, so they can see what our country has become.

They might find the Christmas spirit and issue $300 checks for the masses.

Merry Christmas, boys.

A mad hatter on a rant

Ramblings of a mad hatter:

Hey Senators and House Reps: Does anyone really have our country’s best interest at heart? I wrote to the Senators in PA, to ask them what the heck is going on. Isn’t there anyone who has the courage to stand up for what is right? No response. I am following up, to see if they are still alive or not, and if not, where should I send flowers? Politicians are driving me crazy.

Not sure if you are watching football or not, but I watched the Eagles game yesterday. Maybe they should call it quits for the rest of the year. So disappointing.

Thanksgiving supposedly is the eating holiday. The average person will gain one and a half pounds. Just what we need, after binging all year, in lock down. Oink oink.

It soon will be time to get our Christmas lists ready. The perfect gift this year? Donations to those who are hungry, homeless or ill. Would any of us really miss getting another pair of socks or a sweater this year, when our neighbors are having trouble feeding their families? It may be time to adapt to the new normal, and take care of those less fortunate.

This week is a good time to reflect on our blessings and to give thanks for what we have. Take care of yourself, stay safe and healthy, so that next year, hopefully, we will all be around to celebrate together.

Pollyanna vs the US Senate

The heevy jeevies continue to plague our nation.

When, if ever, will the world be somewhat normal again?

Trying to move along with my life, the lease on my car is coming to an end.

After meeting with sales at the dealership, I was told, I can have a “new” 2020 edition.

No way do I want anything that has 2020 associated with it.

The 2021? Not ready yet.

Ok, so I will run this lease out for another couple of months, rather than get one of the left overs.

There has to be other SUVs, competitors, with 2021 editions.

So one would think, but this is 2020 and nothing is close to normalcy.

I like leasing: a new car every 3 years: I don’t have to worry about the maintenance.

Oh yeah, if I bought a car, I could get a warranty from the guys who call here every day, but then, I would have to answer my phone. Nope. Not gonna happen.
On another note, I decided to enact one of my inalienable rights today and wrote to the senators of PA.

I am fed up with the way congress dinks around and continues to allow disruption and confusion while our country is becoming more and more vulnerable to attacks on our democracy.

I can’t wait to hear what they have to say, that is, if I get a response.

If not, I have lots of time to remind them that I need an answer.

I love being a Pollyanna.

For today, stay safe, healthy and choose to be a Pollyanna. It feels good.

And the winner is:

Who wants to read a nonsensical blog, as we wait for the presidential ballots to be counted?

It’s too close to call. Chill out, breathe, exhale the anxiety and stress.

Easier said than done.

Early this morning, as I made my way to my favorite doughnut joint, the mood was mixed, with anger and disappointment high on the list.

People acting out, suggesting that the process is corrupt.

Here are some of the statements I heard:

“Get ready to hand over your money to illegals, if the crazy dems win.”

“I am counting on Trump to take this voting issue to the highest court.”

“Biden is a decent man, but seems a bit out of it.”

“Trump has been criticized and vilified since he was elected. He has been hounded since day 1.”

“The woman, with Biden, Harris: you watch. She will be running the country and Biden will be hospitalized with dementia.”

Well now. If you know me, I just had to open my mouth and say:

“Ok, so if Trump wins, how will he handle the issues facing our country?”

“Or if Biden comes out on top, do you believe he will be able to unite the people and tackle the problems?:”

No one wanted to hear that.

It was easier to say the election is rigged, not fair and a damn shame.

So I retreated back to my little abode, fighting acid reflux.

Not sure if the doughnuts are to blame or to those I met along the way.

Either way, it seems that approximately 50% of the people will be happy, once we have the votes counted.

A divided nation, no matter who wins.

Remembering Abe Lincoln’s quote:

“A house divided against itself shall not stand.”

It could be , no matter who wins, that we all lose.

Options for November 1, 2020

Anyone else in overload?

From all the political ads?

Are voters still undecided? Really?

Millions of dollars gone, to the advertising and media groups, promoting propaganda.

In the last week or two of the campaign, what would happen if the candidates decided to donate their last few millions in support of their proposed promises?

And the painful truth is that in a few days, when the voting is done, we will be debating on the validity of the absentee and votes that were mailed.

For how long? Nobody knows.

What can be done?

Not much, for most of us.

But we can decide to forget about the voting for today, get outside, or watch football, go for a walk, or grab a cup of hot chocolate, laced with rum chata.

I intend to do all of the above.

Hope you are safe, healthy, and choose to be happy today.

Cheers!

An unlikely cynic

Let’s pretend the past 8 months never happened.

We can just start all over again, staying at home, eating everything in sight, and going nuts.

Looking into my crystal ball, I foresee more shut downs.

Restaurants and bars are doomed, with the exception of take out service.

No hanging out in large crowds, small crowds, or with anyone other than the people you live with.

Only those who work and are essential will be allowed to go outside, without getting fined or arrested. I wonder what happens to those arrested. Do they get a private room at the local jail? Or do they get time off for not getting into fights?

We can be thankful that sometime in the next year or two, a vaccine will be available, well, sort of. No one knows who will be first in line for the vaccines, nor if there will enough to go around.

At least for Christmas, we have a new standard stocking stuffer, for all of our distant friends: Masks. Looks like for the near and far future, masks will prevail.

If you do happen to get Covid, and become very ill, there could be a shortage of hospital beds. Guess what? Young people, come on in. You oldies? Sorry folks, Wally World is closed.

Normally, I have a positive, upbeat attitude.

However, with the continuing surge of illness and the craziness of politics, I have turned into a cynical village idiot.

One lingering question: Why would anyone, in their right mind, want to be president of the United States? You would have to be nuts to want that job.
Forget the question. I think I answered it.

Are you ready for tonight?

Is tonight the last dance between Trump and Biden?

Will it be a dance of the sugar plum fairies or a dance of death?

So many predictions floating around, making my head spin, and wearing down my immunity level, so much so, that I now have a sore throat and cough.

If this is the big one for me, I hope my next life is one without politics.

I thought my eye sight was askew this morning, looking out the window: I could not see the trees. Yikes!! A new symptom has emerged! Nope. Just the fog settling in to make the new day gentler and softer.

I hope the old boys talk about solutions and plans tonight, instead of petty grievances, like “nobody likes me” or “Send in a few bucks please, so we can bore you with the same ads over the next 12 days.”

Isn’t it ridiculous that a mute button had to be added to the mix of the debate? 2 grown men yelling and screaming at one another, while the American people wonder if either is fit to be the president. What happened to decency, respect and courtesy? Now the boys will have to be forced to take time outs, for bad behavior. It’s their punishment for being obnoxious and rude.

It’s been said that as we age, we acquire grace and wisdom. Oh really?

With the wild ride of the Covid streaking though our country, please be safe, stay healthy, and choose to find humor and happiness in this crazy world.

It’s back!!!!!!

They say the presidential race is too close to call, so it seemed like a good idea to have a town hall. But 2 town halls? At the same time? What a year, eh?

I am half crazy from this political stuff, so I bit the bullet, and mailed in my vote today. It is one small voice, from rural Pennsylvania, but it is my vote and I am proud of it.

A streak of sensibility hit me yesterday and I behaved. I am getting bad vibes about the virus with the spikes across the globe. A grim warning: Dos and don’ts:

Do: wear the mask, maintain distancing, wash hands, and do everything outside.

What? Eat outside? Yes, the latest advice is to bundle up and eat Thanksgiving dinner outside.

Don’t: Go to bars, indoor anything, and avoid large gatherings, even at home.

Confusion exists in my pea brain. Does this mean we are looking at another lock down? And to make matters worse, the virus is now predicted to last for years. I wonder if I should order a few hundred more masks.

There is a boat buying frenzy in this country. Millions out of work, but the boats are flying off the shelves. Does hanging out in a boat make you more safe? Isn’t it just another form of confinement? My advice: If you live in Minnesota, don’t expect to float your boat in any of those 10,000 lakes. At least not for the winter.

Frost on the pumpkins tonight. A 3 dog night, for sure.

Be safe, stay healthy, and don’t forget to vote!!

2020: WTH?

Change is in the air.

Leaves are in transition, soon to be dressed in red and yellow, before they fly away, in anticipation of what is to come.

Politicians are bombarding the airwaves with their multi million/billion dollar campaigns, believing they can convince the public to vote for them in November, mainly because they are “better” than their opponents.

The covid threat has not left us nor has it been resolved. Every day there is more and more information, often misleading, about the virus.

The economy? Depends on what your definition is. The stock market? Your pay check? Your 401K? The cost of living? And what about those who are struggling to pay their mortgages or rent when they can barely put food on the table for their families?

Health care is another issue that is unresolved. The premiums are out of reach, and that doesn’t include the deductibles. Will social security and medicare still be available? And for those who can’t afford filling prescriptions, is it really humane to think they can choose between medications and food?

Of course, there is the constant bickering between the 2 parties. What will it take for these so called leaders to sit down with one another, agree that they will have disagreements, but find the solutions that this country desperately needs?

Kids are back in school….. and then back home again. Parents who are lucky enough to work at home, don’t have babysitter issues. Those who have children and commute every day, are torn between what is good for the family versus the almighty dollar.

And just what the heck are we going to do about the safety issues in this country? Is the answer to defund the police? Or to find real solutions, instead of quick, easy answers.

Another debate this week: Vice Presidents. Let us hope that this debate addresses these issues, and does not become a shouting match, with no substance.

It’s been said that change is inevitable. It is the springboard to grow and to find better ways to live. If there was ever a time to believe this, it is now.

2020? You are something else!
