Magic in the air

Having a leisurely cup of java at Dunkin this morning, checking the weather.

Snow squalls on the way, until 1pm.

Many accidents reported, near my house.

The first snow fall of the year.

Funny how so many forget how to drive in it.

Not even half an inch of snow, and the cars are piling up.

On the way home, 3 young deer prancing and playing in the fresh snow.

Beautiful.

Winter has unofficially arrived.

Time to relax at home with hot chocolate, and a book.

Retirement has its perks.

I hope you had a beautiful day.

Be safe, stay healthy and take time to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Soaking in the Vitamin D

Let’s not talk about the election.

At least now we won’t be seeing the same annoying political ads, where the candidates blast their opponents.

How about the weather in the Northeast?

70 degrees yesterday and another beauty on the way for today.

What a great Saturday to chill out and listen to a band on Spec’s patio.

Not just any band, it was James Supra. And what a treat it was!!

James strolled through the crowd to meet his fans.

He said, “Hi. Nice to meet you.”

Me: “HI, what’s your name?”

James: “James.”

Me: “Duh! OMG. You are “that” James. I am friends with your buddies over in Easton.”

Oh, my dear Beav: He loves your family!

The warm weather, friends, food and the music made me happy.

No stress.

No drama.

Just fun!

Today? As Jackson Browne sang, “Let’s get up and do it again.”

Be safe, stay healthy and choose to have a day of relaxation and fun!!

I am a wilted cabbage with a condition

Bee Bopped over to the neighborhood bar on its first indoor dining day.

Is that a word? Bee bopped?

Nevermind.

There they were! Pam, Colleen and Lisa!!

So good to see them!

Waited for my luncheon date.

She didn’t show up.

But, as the day wore on, 5 of my buds showed up to toast to old times.

420: Time for me to leave, but I didn’t. Not for another hour.

It was a priceless moment in time.

Today, I “hopped” over to K town for breakfast, and saw a cotton tailed rabbit, 3 drunk birds, and a wild turkey.

Jesse served me, outside, while I chatted with a friend, and her puppy, Lulu.

Next: Schedule the Mammogram. First call: We stopped doing mammograms at this facility. Next call: Nope! You have to have a special type of prescription for your condition, and your doctor did not provide the correct one. Ok so, back to the doctor, to get another prescription.
You know what? It’s ridiculous, having a condition.

Right now, the heat is blasting away. Not good for dogs, cats and old people, especially old people with conditions. I better not get a heat stroke, or I will have to call for another prescription, for the additional condition.

I think I will visit Kim in awhile, to catch up on her life. It’s the only day she works at the local bar, since she is managing another establishment. So busy! I don’t know how she does it.

I am looking like a wilted cabbage head. I love being a gorgeous cabbage.

Stay cool, stay safe and stay away from conditions.

Don’t let the summer pass you by

Isn’t it fun meeting new people?

My doctor was not available yesterday, to see me. I like him, but he does not have the best “bedside” manner. Quite, cold, actually.

As a substitute, I got to visit with Rebecca. Wow! Charming personality, warm, friendly, knowledgeable and a hoot!

Only one test for now, to see what is going on, and I like that! One at a time.

Wouldn’t you know it? No pain when I got to the doctor’s office. It comes and goes. Yesterday, it went. Today? Back again.

To take my mind off my condition, it was time for a pizza, beer and music. Sissy and I played music trivia, and then, as the night wore on, we switched to listening to our favorite tunes. Before I knew it, it was 11pm.

This morning, my friend dropped off veggies from his garden. What a sweet guy!!

The heat and humidity is excessive again today, so I am considering having an early lunch at Specs. The only drawback? I have to get dressed.

I love a lazy, hazy day. The summer comes and goes quickly, so I try to soak in all the vitamin D I can, on the deck, relaxing with a book.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Be safe, stay hydrated and eat an ice cream cone or two!

hot and impotent

Don’t worry, I am not going to mention how hot it is.

Well, Ok, just this one thing. It is hot; not “just” hot, but beastly hot.

Do you like sweating? Do you ever recall sweating while sitting at the computer, doing not much of anything?

Question for y’all: If a person drinks quite a few beers the night before, does that person sweat out the alcohol the next day? (asking for a friend)

And while we are on the hot kick, the weather forecast is for exceptionally hot weather, for the next 2 -3 months.

The way I feel today, I may not last through tomorrow.

I am melting faster than the glaciers at the North Pole.

Moving on to my other least favorite topic, the virus, some doctors are claiming that a blood thinner may be the answer. Something about how those little round things get tied up by the thinner, and render the virus impotent. Now isn’t that a highly scientific explanation?

Keep cool

Stay safe

Choose to have a happy day.

The simple life

A perfect day in the life of the craziest woman I know: Yes, me.

Sunny, warm, not too muggy.

Cool breeze from time to time.

Blue skies, fluffy white clouds.

No schedule, no deadlines.

A new book, “Where the crawdads sing.”

Homemade raisin bread and peanut butter cookies.

Grabbed a chair and sat on the deck.

Could not resist looking at those fluffy clouds, using my imagination: My little doggie, Barkley! I see him! Then he drifted away to rainbow ridge.

Getting a big dose of vitamin D without any pills.

So quiet, except for the tiny bird who wanted to fly into his bird house, but hesitated when he saw me.

Freshly cut lawn: the yard and trees looked spectacular, green and lush.

Feeling perfectly content, to live in such a beautiful world.

I believe I have changed since the pandemic. I no longer take my health, my friends, nor my life for granted.

I am enjoying every possible moment of every day.

I hope you are, too.

Bingo!

I get a kick out of watching bingo players: they set up their stations with good luck charms, sit in the same spot every week, get upset when someone gets a bingo before they do, and as soon as the game is over, they have to tell everyone that they only had one number left. The real experts play several boards at once, and still have time to watch your board when you sit next to them. Just what is it that brings me to mention bingo? There are 75 balls in a standard bingo game. Yes, you guessed it. We are celebrating 75 days of incarceration due to the elusive Covid 19.

Since I am afraid of severe storms, it was time to bring snacks and beer to Sissy’s, to spend the afternoon. I do not like being alone in a storm. Ray and Chris joined us for a short time, until the winds started to pick up and the sky turned dark. We girls (and George, the dog), brought our beverages into the garage, left the door open and watched the storm blow over. We listened to music, drank a few more beers, while mother nature cooled her jets.

Meanwhile, the world continued on its dark journey, battling the virus, floods and racism. The grim reaper stood in the corner chalking up the deaths on every level. Madness is alive and thriving, while we desperately search for answers and leadership.

On this weekend, as the country slowly begins its recovery, keep hope alive. Remember that storm yesterday? When it passed, a rainbow appeared in the sky. A spiritual sign, perhaps, for us to begin healing and living again.

When you’re hot, you’re hot

Some like it hot, some not so hot. 72 is a perfect temp for me. And that is what it is right now, in Pennsylvania.

How fitting is that? For the 72nd day of our limited freedom?

Do you have good vibes about this summer? Vacations? Swimming? Dining? Bar Hopping? Picnics? Camping? Sports? Or will we be playing it cool, waiting for the cure? The virus is still on the prowl, jumping from person to person, finding the most vulnerable, feeding on its prey, without mercy.

Here I am jumping the gun again, still in lockdown, thinking about what might be, what could be, what will be. Will it look the same as every other summer? Doubtful. Highly doubtful. However, it will feel wonderful to have at least some of the restrictions lifted and to see our family and friends again.

Having behaved myself yesterday, I am feeling much better this morning. Got up early, left the house, masked, did some errands, and stopped by Dunkin again. I figured they probably missed me yesterday. Getting ready to listen to Puff Daddy, my new code name for the NY Gov. Don’t even ask. I am a ridiculous goof.

Wishing everyone a healthy, safe day, filled with love and gratitude.

Cheers!

Why did I smoke those 3 cigs?

The 28th day of self loathing in purgatory, April 13, 2020.

Awake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving. Oh yeah? Not so much today. The virus is spreading and the weather is just plain awful. Rain, winds, tornado watch: What a frightful day.

What does one do when faced with a long day of storms? Play games.
And that I did.

Password, Trivial Pursuit and finally Scrabble.I needed a quiet day after my raucous behavior last night.

Why in the hell did I smoke those 3 cigs? I woke up feeling like my mouth was an ashtray. Top that with several Titos and Cranberry juice and I was, once again, a hot mess.

Sissy made me a Spanish omelet for breakfast followed by coffee with Irish Cream, and then? Let the games begin.

Confession time: Storms scare me. I don’t like being alone when the weather turns violent. Today, in spite of the warnings and high winds, the hours flew by, with George Max and Bandit by my side. Pets seems to know what to do when a terrified visitor enters the scene.

Storms never last do they baby
Bad times all pass with the winds
Your hand in mine stills the thunder
You make the sun want to shine

Waylon Jennings and Jessi Coulter

Love that song!

Free at last

My two surrogate Mothers are on their way to warmer climates.

Just think: No one around to ask me, “Did you eat today?”

To be ornery, and rebellious, it was Dunkin time this morning: Bagels and a jelly doughnut, topped off with a chocolate caramel turtle.

When the cat’s away, the mouse will play. And this mouse is already out of control, eating carbs, sugar and all that good stuff.

Next stop will be to visit my little friend, to consume a few beers and a burger.

Free at last! Free at last!

And tomorrow? A major feast fest at Sissy’s, turkey and all the trimmings. She doesn’t like to bake, so I am bringing a decadent dessert. Oink oink.

I will be so fat on Sunday, that I may not make it through the kitchen door. If not, I stocked up on a few snacks on my way home from Dunkin. It is the Lenten season, and I am celebrating Fat Tuesday until the cows come home, or until I am put out to pasture.

I just looked at some old photos of me when I was 4 years old. Geez. What a chubby little brat. I guess once a blimp, always a blimp. My hair-do, however, was completely ridiculous. Gram took me to the hair dresser for a perm. What a freakish looking kid. I never did recover from that.

Time to find my ear muffs. Winter is blasting away again. Brrrrr. I like ear muffs. No matter what, they always fit.

Getting ready to head out now, to stop for whiskey for my men and beer for my horses.
